MANAMA: The visiting Indonesian delegation held talks with the Labour Market Regulatory Reforms (LMRA) and explored avenues co-operation for Indonesian expatriate workers in Bahrain and including workers recruitment, protection, awareness, legal rights and duties.
The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA)’s CEO Osama Abdullah Al-Absi received an official Indonesian delegation on Monday.
The delegation comprises the Deputy Chairman of the National Board for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Overseas Workers for International Cooperation and members from the National Board and the Foreign Ministry in the presence of the Indonesia’s Ambassador to Bahrain, Chilman Arisman .
The LMRA Executive President and the visiting Indonesian delegation discussed overall cooperation between the LMRA and the Indonesian National Assembly regarding Indonesian workers in order to develop the bilateral cooperation and exchange expertise and information in this field.
The LMRA Director of Customer Service gave a detailed explanation about the LMRA work and its objectives and accomplished successes in managing the local labour market regarding foreign workers.
He also presented a detailed overview of the new procedures for work permits, the labour market reform project, development of national human resources and LMRA accomplishments since its inception.
The Director of Coordination Ahmed Al-Khabbaz informed the visiting Indonesian delegation about the various aspects of the labour market reform project and the steps taken in its implementation. The Indonesian delegation made a field tour in the LMRA premises and examined the services provided to employers and employees and procedures applicable in the LMRA regarding the issuance of work permits to expatriate workers.
The Indonesian delegation praised the unique experience implemented by the LMRA and also praised the care provided to Indonesian workers in Bahrain which appreciated by the official side. The delegation also praised the new laws and regulations applicable in the LMRA.
The Indonesian delegation’s visit comes in implementation of the outcome of the official visit of the LMRA Executive President to Indonesia last May upon invitation from the Indonesian National Assembly.
