MANAMA: First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) and President of the Bahrain Athletics Association Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa received a delegation from the Ministry of Interior representing Coast Guard and a delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Interior, represented by Border Guard.
The meeting is within the framework of coordination for Shaikh Khalid’s participation in the “Swim Challenge” which kicks off on March 14.
Shaikh Khalid chaired the coordination meeting which was attended by Colonel Ahmed Jassim Al Ghatam representing Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior and a number of officers, and the Liaison Officer at Saudi Border Guards Lieutenant Colonel Bandar Turki.
They discussed procedures and equipment prepared for the challenge, especially regarding the status of weather and expected climate conditions, as well as the timing of the launch that will be determined according to the wind speed and tides of Bahrain’s and Saudi’s water along with water rise rate from the surface of earth.
Shaikh Khalid expressed pride in the initiative of “Swim Challenge” representing the bilateral relations between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia through the cooperation between Bahrain’s Coast Guard and Saudi Border Guards.
Lt. Colonel Turki praised Shaikh Khalid’s invitation to the Saudi Border Guards to take part in the coordination on the event.
He commended Shaikh Khalid’s sports and humanitarian initiatives.
