MANAMA: The Cabinet on Sunday discussed and approved the proposal of issuing a law regulating provisions on weapons and nuclear materials.
The aim of this law is to regulate the provisions on weapons and nuclear materials, and to ensure the Kingdom of Bahrain’s adherence to all the obligations stipulated in international conventions, treaties, initiatives and the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council.
Speaking during the weekly post-cabinet meeting press briefing, the Minister of State for Information Affairs and the Official Spokesperson of the Government Sameera Ebrahim bin Rajab said that the Cabinet discussed the memorandum presented by His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the issuance of a law regulating the provisions on weapons and nuclear materials.
The Cabinet decided to refer the memorandum to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs for further review.
The Cabinet discussed the memorandum presented by His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the Prohibition of Biological Weapons.
The draft law aims to establish a legislative framework for the prohibition of biological weapons, in adherence to the conventions signed and the binding UN Security Council Resolutions in this regard.
It should be mentioned that the Kingdom of Bahrain has acceded to the Biological Weapons Conventions (BWC) under the Emiri Decree No. (9) for the year 1988, as well as the binding UN Security Council Resolution No. (1540) issued in 2004, under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter concerning the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister chaired the regular Cabinet session of Sunday the 20th of April 2014.
HRH the Prime Minister welcomed the successful visit of HM the King to Kazakhstan and the hospitality extended to HM during the visit. HRH hoped for a continued mutual success of the relationship between the two countries on all levels.
The Cabinet decided to refer the memorandum to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs for further review.
Retrieval of Previous Air Transport Agreement between Bahrain and the Czech Republic
The Cabinet discussed the memorandum presented by the Minister of Transportation on retrieving from the Representative and Shura Councils the previous Air Transport Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of the Czech Republic, in order to sign a new agreement between the two countries in line with the latest developments in air transport.
The Cabinet decided to pull the draft agreement from the legislative authority in order to make the required updates and amendments.
