MANAMA: Bahrain is resolved to modernise its executive procedures and bring national legislations in line with international human rights standards, Minister of State for Information Affairs and Government’s Official Spokesperson Sameera Ibrahim bin Rajab said.
She made the statement as she received a technical delegation representing the United Nations Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR) at the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) headquarters. The team included Tunis-based (UNCHR) Bureau Chief Mazen Shaqora and Georgia Brinion, from Geneva-based Middle East and North Africa Branch.
The minister reviewed with the (UNCHR) technical delegation cooperation in the fields of media and communication, training and professional competence-building and transfer of technical expertise.
She reiterated Bahrain’s keen interest in benefiting from specialised international organisations to hone the skills of national media personnel and keep abreast of global technical strides under the new draft law on media and communication.
