MANAMA: Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) on Saturday confirmed a diesel leakage in one of the supply pipes linking refinery and diesel storage tanks.
Bapco also reported spill of less than a barrel of diesel as a result of a small hole in a pipe of 12 inches category in the diesel line extending between the factory and refinery tanks.
Responded immediately and emergency teams of the company responded to the tip of the Supreme Council for the Environment, which in turn received a tip from the village of Ma’ameer about having shiny surface sediments on the coast of the village on the hotline for emergency environment.
“The emergency teams were able to stop the leak completely and safely at about 4:30pm yesterday afternoon, after just one hour of receiving an emergency environment for communication people Ma’ameer, while work continued over two days to encircle and isolate and clean the area,” Bapco in a statement said.
“This was done in the presence of senior officials of the company and of the Supreme Environment Council,” Bapco in a statement added.
