MANAMA: Building global partnerships is one of key goals of the Ministry of Communications to keep abreast with the developments in the ICT and technology sectors.
This was the crux of the remarks delivered by Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Minister of State for Communications at the opening of the 2nd Annual iTECH GULF Forum and Exhibition opened on Wednesday.
The Minister said that such events bring together the leading experts and enthusiasts enabling a dynamic exchange of knowledge and ideas that can benefit us all,” the Minister said.
The two day event is being held at the Gulf Hotel Convention Centre in Manama, Bahrain.
HE Sheikh Fawaz in his opening remarks highlighted the importance of the technology and ICT in reshaping the Kingdom’s business landscape. The Minister also honoured the winning companies with the iTECH awards.
After the presentation of the awards, the Minister cut the ribbon, formally opening the iTECH Gulf 2014 Exhibition. The exhibition offers a vibrant showcase of technology and innovation for IT and ICT professionals and consumers, including a Near Field Communication (NFC) Wall presented by 4SPORTS, as well as live product demonstrations of globally-renowned technology giants such as 3M, Huawei Business Applications and Canon.
“iTECH Gulf is all about cutting-edge IT and ICT, so it is only right that we lead from the front. For example, working with our strategic partner 4SPORTS and its NFC Wall, we are delivering a ‘real tech’ experience for visitors and delegates to instantly exchange contacts and information via their smart phones,” Jubran Abdulrahman, Managing Director of Hilal Conferences and Exhibitions that is staging the event, said.
Guest speakers at the event which runs through Thursday, April 10th, include Dr. Jassim Haji, Director of Information and Technology at Gulf Air; Raffael Marty, Founder and CEO of US data visualization specialists Pixlcloud and Brout Pfeifer, award winning lead engineer of the game ‘Skulls of the Shogun’.
