MANAMA: Under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), the second edition of the Artisanat of the creative entrepreneur +973 (+973 Artisanat), an initiative that falls under the “Wehda Wahda” campaign, will be launched in Juffair.
The “+973” project nurtures and sponsors creative pioneers and brings them together within an organised institution through a special centre to house these creative pioneers and their products.
It aims to cement national unity and restore relations among all segments of the Bahraini society, which was achieved by the first edition of the campaign in 2011.
It has a societal dimension as it brings all creative Bahrainis together under one ceiling and one identity. This enhances the culture of social integration and efficient citizenship and opens the doors wide for networking and exchange of expertise among pioneers through a wide variety of cultural, social, and economic programmes.
The Juffair area was selected to host the “+973” centre, given its location in the centre of the capital, Manama, which will ensure easy access to it from the citizens, residents and tourists.
The centre was beautified and decorated in order to encourage more exhibitors and victors ahead of the launch ceremony.
The “+973 Artisanat” serves as a permanent gallery for creative works and products by Bahraini youths. The gallery is expected to become a destination for Bahrain’s citizens and visitors where they can see all kinds of unique and innovative Bahraini products such as works of art, handicrafts, sculptures, paintings, home furniture and appliances, fashion, and accessories.
Regular workshops will be organised at this centre, where new entrepreneurs can be trained to develop their skills and advance their enterprises based on the best international practices. This would support the sustainability of original Bahraini crafts as the introduction of international standards will develop Bahraini products and create local brands capable of competing internationally.
