MANAMA: Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has ordered a probe panel to be set up to investigate the publication online and in some newspapers of a list of names of trainers working as part of the security cooperation between Bahrain and Jordan, the Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs said.
The Interior Minister said legal procedures will be taken against those who are responsible for the information leak.
The Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for Legal Affairs stressed that the list is confidential and shouldn’t have been disclosed.
“The publication is a violation of article 371 of the Penal Code that carries a sentence of no more than one year in prison and a fine of no more than BD100. If the violator is a public employee who was entrusted with the leaked information then the punishment is no more than five years in jail,” the statement said.
