MANAMA: In response to the alarming rise of “ the silent killer diseases including the diabetes, hypertension or high blood pressure and obesity in Kingdom of Bahrain and the region, RBH Medex Medical Center has led an innovative public awareness campaign.
The first in the series was a free screening camp to educate the visitors of Al Basta Souq, on how to adopt healthy habits. The nearly-three-month-event, which was organized by the southern governorate, took place in Bahrain International Circuit between January 9 and March 29.
A total of 1500 people were screened for these “Silent Killer diseases” and the activities of the bilingual campaign had reached out to more than 5000 people. This included lectures by the medical experts from RBH Medex Medical Center, in addition to screening and counseling sessions. The campaign also featured many fitness competitions for both adults as well as children, combined with healthy tips as well as several fun activities.
Ahmed Jawahery , Chairman of RBH Medex Medical Center, has expressed his delight of the success of the campaign, and the contentment of the Souq attendees.
“Our aim through sharing such an event with the community was to boost the health awareness of such diseases among the society, as according to latest medical surveys the cases of diabetes, hypertension and obesity are on the rise,” he said, adding that therefore RBH Medex Medical Center would continue this campaign in various locations across Bahrain.
As part of the social responsibility towards the community a free Ambulance and Paramedic service was provided throughout the duration of this Traditional Al Basta Souq.
