MANAMA: The Cabinet has welcomed holding the Formula One race in Bahrain and the Kingdom’s guests, noting that the race reflects a global vote of confidence in the kingdom’s distinguished potentials in the tourism, sports, security and economic fields.
It also commended the tremendous efforts exerted to ensure the success of the Bahrain Grand Prix and showcase the security and stability enjoyed by the kingdom, the Secretary-General of Cabinet Dr. Yaser bin Essa Al-Naser stated.
In a statement following today’s regular weekly meeting, chaired by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa at the Gudaibiya Palace on Sunday, Dr. Al-Naser said that the cabinet had tasked the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs to probe the fire that broke out at one of the Information Affairs Authority (IAA)’s facilities recently.
HRH Premier directed all ministers and officials to activate means of communication and interaction with the citizens on a regular basis in order to be informed about their complaints, problems and proposals and address them timely.
He also urged quick response to what is being posted on various social media networks, and intensify field visits to governorates to meet MPs and members of municipal councils, being the representatives of the citizens who elected them, as well as governors.
Then, the cabinet discussed and approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Government of Bahrain and the Government of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland on facilitating the visiting visa application process to holders of diplomatic and special passports from both countries.
The Cabinet also endorsed a memorandum presented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the establishment of a Bahraini diplomatic mission in Brazil, and requested the relevant sides to take the necessary procedures.
The move aims to enhance the friendship between the two countries and develop mutual bilateral cooperation in various political, economic, cultural, educational, sports and health fields.
On transportation, the cabinet reviewed a memo presented by the Minister of Transportation on the draft air transport agreement signed with Tunisia, and referred it to the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs for further study.
The agreement aims to develop regular air transportation between the two countries and beyond their respective territories.
Eleven MoUs signed between Bahrain and Kazakhstan in various fields was also approved during the session.
In another development, the cabinet agreed to allocate a land lot to establish a sports club in Hamad Town, proposed by the Council of Representatives, and requested the General Organisation for Youth and Sport to follow-up on the implementation process.
Two other proposals submitted by the Representatives on achieving the goals set by the High Committee in charge of addressing juvenile criminality and violence and parents’ responsibility, and the issuance of the technicians’ payroll at the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) were also endorsed, Dr. Al-Naser said.
