MANAMA: The Cabinet on Sunday learnt that the employment of the national workforce increased by 3.9% following the recruitment of 148,000 job seekers in the first quarter of this year, which reflects the government’s policies to integrate 6,000 national workers in the labour market.
The cabinet also endorsed the two memoranda of understanding to be signed by the National Authority for Qualifications and Quality Assurance of Education and Training (QQA) with the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency.
The cabinet directed to increase the number of postal boxes that serve individuals and companies across the kingdom’s governorates, and approved a memo presented by the Minister of Transportation on amending Ministerial Edict N. 15 for 2013.
The replies of the relevant ministries regarding the recommendations of the parliamentary probe committee in the case of meat, livestock and barns were approved and referred to the Representatives Council.
The cabinet also endorsed a number of memoranda of understanding to be signed by the kingdom and Tajikistan in the fields of small and medium-sized enterprises, food security and aluminum industry.
The cabinet approved a number of proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives. They include allocating more Islamic Religion lessons in the school curricula for all educational levels, supporting farmers, establishing a national diving club and addressing the phenomenon on selling research papers and private tuition.
The proposal to hold training workshops and launch awareness raising programmes for third secondary female students on family problems, particularly divorce, and ways to address them was also approved.
