MANAMA: Human Rights Affairs Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman received here today a European delegation, led by led by the Managing Director of North Africa, Middle East, the Arabian Peninsula, Iran and Iraq at the European External Action Service (EEAS) Hughes Mingarelli.
The Minister praised the Bahraini –European relations in the human rights’ field, stressing the importance of enhancing joint cooperation so as to institutionalise human rights work.
He affirmed that Bahrain’s record in human rights is positive, advanced and will gradually develop.
The Minister stated on the sidelines of the International Conference on the Arab Court for Human Rights that Bahrain wants the Arab Court for Human Rights to be the house of the Arab justice.
He added that His Majesty the King’s initiative was the outcome of his far-sighted vision on developing an Arab mechanism in the field of human rights, through benefiting from similar legal mechanisms.
The Minister affirmed Arab support for the Royal initiative aiming to meet the expectations of the Arab Nation, achieve sustainable development and enhance the pillars of the principles of law, justice, equality, and respect of human rights.
The Minister expressed hope that the Bahraini-European cooperation and coordination will be activated, affirming the active and prominent role of GCC and European regional organisations’ in several common issues.
They explored ways of enhancing joint cooperation and coordination in order to serve the human rights’ work and promote the human right’s principles through exchanging expertise and capacity building.
