MANAMA: Bahrain on Sunday joined the Islamic world in marking the Prophet’s Night Journey and the Ascension (Al Isra’ wal Miraj).
The Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry organised the ceremony under the patronage of Supreme Islamic Council (SIC) President Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al-Khalifa. Scholars, religious personalities, members of the diplomatic corps, citizens and residents converged on Ahmed Al-Fateh Islamic Centre to attend the annual event.
Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs Dr. Fareed bin Yacoub Al-Meftah addressed the attendance, urging cooperation between for Bahrain to heal the wounds of the past. He called on all social segments to embark on inclusive consensus and engage in dialogue to build the homeland and affirm loyalty to Bahrain and its leadership. “Bahrain is a homeland that embraces its entire people regardless of their sects, religions and cultures, without any exclusion or marginalization”, he said, stressing the importance of turning Bahrain into model of peaceful co-existence, tolerance and mutual respect. Sharia High Court of Cassation President Dr. Ibrahim Rashid Al-Merrikhi and Shaikh Ahmed Salman Al-Mekhouder, from the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry, also addressed the ceremony.
