MANAMA: Bahrain has been at the crossroads of religions and civilisations, standing as a beacon of tolerance and communication since olden times, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa said.
He vowed that Bahrain would always be a model of co-existence between religions, doctrines and peoples, embracing all without any discrimination.
HM the King was speaking as he received His Beatitude John X Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, who is taking part in the conference on dialogue between civilisations and dialogues, which opened yesterday under the patronage of HM the King.
HM the King hailed the participation of Patriarch John X in the Conference themed “Civilisation in Service of Humanity”, which opened on Monday in Bahrain.
He commended the keynote speech he delivered at the reception ceremony yesterday, in which he advocated tolerance, peaceful co-existence as well as the values of amity and fraternity bonding Islam and Christianity. HM the King affirmed Bahrain’s keen interest in consolidating interfaith bonds of fraternity, hailing peace-loving and civilised citizens for their hospitality with the followers of religions.
