MANAMA: Members of the Bahrain Journalist Association (BJA) on Saturday elected a new board of directors for two years term.
Over 400 journalists and media professionals have elected a new board during an election held at the Alumni Club Bahrain. Over 400 registered voters cast their ballot during uninterrupted voting which lasted about five hours.
The outgoing President Moanes Al Mardi has already won unopposed while eight members were elected through the ballot.
The newly elected board members are Ehab Ahmed, Mohannad Al Nuaimi, Samah Allam, Abdullah Khalid Al Dossary, Rashid Nabeel Al Hamer, Sakeena Al Tawash, Mohammed Ismail and Jalil Omar.
Information Affairs Authority Mass Media Management’s Director, election committee Chairman, Yusuf Mohammad, announced Bahrain Journalists Association (BJA) elections results, which came as follows: Ihab Ahmed 276 votes, Mohannad Sulaiman 262 votes, Samah Allam 254 votes, Jalil Omar 238 votes, Rahid Al-Hamar 229 votes, Abdulla Khalid 216 votes, Sukaina Al-Tawaash 209 votes, Mohammad Ismael 191, while Ahdia Ahmed 181 votes and Osama Al-Majid 53 votes couldn’t compete to win seats in the 2014-2016 BJA Board for for getting the lowest numbers of votes.
