MANAMA: Diyar Al Muharraq, one of the leading urban developers in the Kingdom of Bahrain, appointed Nass Contracting for the construction of Phase1 of Dragon City, a Chinese-themed retail development in the Diyar Al Muharraq master planned project in a signing ceremony that took place at their stand on the first day of the Gulf Property Show on Tuesday at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre in Manama.
Set in the southwest corner of Diyar Al Muharraq on 115,000 square meter area, Dragon City is the first-of-its kind development in Bahrain. It has a gross floor area of circa 51,000 sq metres, approximately 700 individual retail store spaces, warehousing of circa 5,000 sq metres, a dining street of some 6,000 sq meters and car parking for some 1,500 customer vehicles.
The project will be developed by Dragon City BSC (c), a subsidiary of Diyar Al Muharraq WLL. and Operation of Phase 1 will be undertaken by Chinamex Middle East. Dragon City will offer discount and retail opportunities to local consumers, trade customers and tourists, and cater to both wholesale and retail consumers as well.

As per our contract, Dragon City Phase I will be constructed by Nass Contracting over a 14-month period. The anticipated opening of the mall is June 2015,” after signing the construction contract with Nass Contracting, Diyar Al Muharraq Chairman, Abdul Hakim Al Khayyat said.

By adhering to best practices, we will deliver promptly as scheduled, in time for the opening of the mall in June 2015,” Nass Contracting, CEO, Ghazi Nass said.
The signing of agreement kicked off the highlight of activities set by Diyar Al Muharraq for the three-day exhibition, which will continue through Thursday 8th of May 2014.

The facility will offer a variety of Chinese products such as home appliances, household items, building materials, furniture, toys, machinery, garments, textiles, footwear and general merchandise. The development is expected to draw in a multitude of visitors on a regular basis, which includes local consumers, trade customers and tourists.
Aside from the unique opportunities offered by Dragon City, investors and visitors at the exhibition can also acquire information and explore further opportunities within the masterplan development, including Diyar Homes and Sarat residential land plots. Diyar Al Muharraq also showcased other investor related opportunities such as the recently launched Commercial Showrooms plots and Light Industries, Logistics and Warehouse plots located within Diyar Al Muharraq’s Enterprise Zone.
