MANAMA: His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative, and President of the High Authority for Information and Communication (HAIC), Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed his keenness to provide support to media in order to promote its vital role in maintaining the security and stability of the homeland, protecting Bahrain’s gains and supporting the objectives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s reforms.
Shaikh Abdullah made the statement as he visited the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) where he met IAA President Ali Mohammed Al Rumaihi.
Shaikh Abdullah expressed his appreciation of the efforts by IAA officials and employees in the development of the official media establishment, based on its pivotal role in covering national events and highlighting Bahrain’s reform improvements, development and democratic achievements in various local, regional and international forums.
He lauded the content and implications of His Majesty the King’s keynote address marking World Press Freedom Day, as a guide for HAIC and all media outlets to consolidate press and media freedom on the basis of responsibility, and professional and ethical principles in order to serve the nation and contribute to the promotion of tolerance, respect and peaceful coexistence between all segments of society while rejecting all hostility or hatred calls.
Al Rumaihi expressed appreciation to Shaikh Abdullah for his visit which is considered a catalyst for developing and improving the media sector, valuing highly his support to IAA’s development programmes and plans.
He affirmed that IAA will continue its efforts in the development of radio and television programmes and rehabilitating the national cadre so as to keep pace with the latest developments and technologies in the field of information and communication, following the directives of HM the King.
