MANAMA: His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa highlighted the important role played by the leading trading families in developing the Kingdom’s national economy.
HRH has affirmed that the government follows up on the needs of the Old Manama Souq constantly, encourages investors and is keen on supporting pioneering trade families for their crucial role in boosting the national economy.
“We want this souq to regain its leading role as a major artery of the Kingdom’s economic system,” he said, directing to develop the Souq further so as to remove all obstacles impeding commercial activities.
He affirmed that facilitating the business of small and medium-sized enterprises tops the government’s agenda, given its positive impact on the commercial and economic performance in the Kingdom.
The Prime Minister pledged that the government would continue its development efforts in order to ensure the citizens’ comfort, contribute to the revitalisation of the trade movement and bring about a quantum leap in the economic march.
He also pointed out that the government is interested in harnessing all available potentials to upgrade the services and boost trade in the country.
He affirmed that whoever betted on making Bahrain and its commercial area may become a hotbed of chaos and instability thanks to the government’s firm resolve and the honourable stances of the Bahraini people.
This came as HRH Premier toured the old Manama Souq where he visited dignitaries Hussain bin Ali Yateem and Mubarak bin Jassim Kanoo, and was assured that the trade activities were going ahead in a secure and stable environment, as usual.
HRH Premier met dignitary Hussain Ali Yateem and a number of his family members, and exchanged with them talks on trade affairs and the government’s efforts to spur the commercial in the Kingdom.
HRH Premier praised the generation of trade pioneers who put, along with the government, the basic bricks for the economic take-off whose fruits are reaped by everyone nowadays, calling for the need to preserve family companies so that the offsprings of those families continue the march spearheaded by their fathers and ancestors.
Hussain Yateem praised HRH Premier’s visit which he said reflected his interest in the trade movement in the Kingdom and constant support for traders.
HRH Premier later paid a visit the Kanoo Commercial company where he met dignitary Mubarak bin Jassim Kanoo and several members of his family.
The Prime Minister reviewed with those present the commercial boom in the Kingdom, and the crucial role by commercial families, including the Kanoo family, in supporting the government’s initiatives aiming to accelerate economic growth.
HRH Premier affirmed the key role played by the Kanoo family in boosting commercial activities in the kingdom, hailing it as being a main tributary to the national economy through its history.
He also lauded the Kanoo family’s initiatives and role in charity work.
Kanoo family members expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH Premier for his visit, which, they said, reflected part of his appreciation of businessmen and commercial families, emphasising that his support to the trade sector is the secret of the kingdom’s economic successes.
HRH Premier toured the old Manama Souq and was informed about the needs of its shoppers regarding services.
He affirmed that the Souq reflected the deep-rooted commercial tradition in the kingdom, and therefore the development of all its facilities had become necessary.
