MANAMA: The First High Criminal Court has issued life jail terms against six suspects accused of killing Ahmed Al-Dhufairi and attempting to murder another, Chief Prosecutor at the Capital Governorate Mohammed Al Maliki announced.
Details of the case reveal that the suspects blocked the public road with tyres, planted a bomb inside one of them and set them on fire. When the victims tried to clear the road, the bomb exploded and caused them severe burns, which required taking them to the hospital.
Ahmed Al-Dhufairi’s case was serious, so he was taken abroad where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Public Prosecution investigated into the case and requested a forensic expert to determine the cause of the death.
The six suspects were then referred to the High Criminal Court where they stood trial over charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder, possession of arms and explosives which they used to put the citizens’ lives to danger, gathering and possession of inflammable explosives for terrorist ends.
The court’s verdict was based on the suspects’ confessions, the testimonies of the injured victim, police officers and the forensic reports.
