MANAMA: The volume of the engagement in voluntary work is directly proportional to the progress and prosperity of nations, and it is one of the main requirements of the growth and development in many countries, according to HH Shaikh Nasser.
Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, on Wednesday delivered a lecture at the 3rd GCC Universities Forum.
The event was attended by SCYS First Deputy Chairman, Chairman of Bahrain Athletic Association, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and a number of ministers and government officials.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad highlighted HM the King’s directives to the community on the engagement in social voluntary work, for its positive effects on the society, in particular the youth, to gain extra skills and experiences.
He called on preparing keen generations to be engaged in social voluntary work to contribute to build a new Bahrain.
He added that successful countries those which their people have avoided political engagement and committed to social voluntary work.
He defined the concept of voluntary work as the effort exerted by a person aims to serve the community and gain new skills through it.
He underscored the importance of voluntary work which complements the governmental work, which targets providing services to the community, and enhances social unity, and tackled the challenges faced by the engagement in the voluntary work.
He underlined the principles of the success of the voluntary work and the need to raise awareness of it among the community.
