MANAMA: Minister of State for Follow-up Affairs Mohmmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mutawa on Tuesday held talks with Renata Pavlov, Executive Director, MENA-OECD Governance Programme Training Centre in Caserta, and discussed cooperation.
His Royal Highness Premier’s Court Chief Shaikh Husam bin Isa Al-Khalifa has also attended the meeting which focused on joint cooperation to promote good governance in the public sector.
The Minister said that Bahrain has a keen interest in fostering the culture of good governance, exchanging expertise and benefiting from international success stories in strategic planning, decision-making, streamlining administrative procedures, and managing human resources.
He pointed out that the Cabinet has already endorsed a plan to establish a regional centre in Bahrain to promote the culture of good governance in the public sector.
Renata Pavlov gave an update on the activities of the MENA-OECD Governance Programme Training Centre in Caserta expressing interest in fostering a cooperation agreement with Bahrain.
The Kingdom of Bahrain is member in the executive committee of the MENA-OECD Governance Programme Training Centre in Caserta which was established in September 2012 by The Italian National School of Administration (SNA) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) with the mission of developing training courses to support the public administrations of the Arab countries and to promote initiatives for capacity building in order to pursue efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector and Good Governance.
The Centre of Caserta is part of the MENA-OECD Governance Programme which fosters public sector reforms and strengthens international cooperation with a view to promote sustainable economic growth in the MENA region. The MENA-OECD Governance Centre is also part of the Action Plan on Open Governance of the Deauville Partnership for Arab Countries, Governance Pillar.
