MANAMA: Bahrain was ranked the 29th worldwide and the third in the Arab world in the Network Readiness Index (NRI).
The Official Government Spokesperson and State Minister for Information Affairs Sameera Rajab told reporters that during the weekly post Cabinet meeting that State Minister for Telecommunications in a report said that mobile phone services recorded 2.21 million subscriptions at the end of 2013, with an increase of 4% between the years 2012 and 2013.
The Cabinet viewed the memorandum presented by the Minister of State for Telecommunications Affairs on the most important indicators for the analysis of the telecommunications sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Broadband Internet services recorded 1.63 million subscribers at the end of 2013, with an increase of 30.5% between the years 2012 and 2013.
Fixed telephone services recorded 251 thousand subscribers at the end of 2013, of which 35% subscriptions used fixed wireless technology (WiMAX).
Mobile Broadband service prices were reduced by 65%, and by 38% for fixed line broadband service, between the years 2012 and 2013.
