MANAMA: The Cabinet on Sunday was informed about the Isa Town Souq fire report which gutted hundreds of shops as a result of massive fire broke out last summer.
The Official Government Spokesperson and State Minister for Information Affairs Sameera Rajab told reporters that during the weekly post Cabinet meeting that in its report, the Committee recommended to commission the Ministry of Municipalities’ Affairs and Urban Planning to follow-up on public safety procedures and preventive measures to avoid the occurrence of such incidents in the future, and to take stringent action against those found to have violated proper storage procedures and safe electrical wiring.
HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister chaired the regular Cabinet session of Sunday and HRH hailed the successful visit of the president of Tajikistan, and the accompanying delegation, to the Kingdom of Bahrain, which comes in the framework of strengthening ties between the two countries at all levels.
HRH discussed, with the concerned minister, the importance of opening the souq in Isa Town as soon as the construction is completed, and all safety measures are present, so as to prevent any accidents in the future.
HRH discussed with the concerned ministers providing more car parking spaces in Muharraq to accommodate the city’s needs as activities are on the rise.
The Cabinet discussed, during the regular session of June 1, 2014 at Qudaibiya Palace, a number of subjects and memorandums listed on the agenda.
The Cabinet discussed and approved the memorandum presented by His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister, President of the Ministerial Committee for Services and Infrastructure, on the fire that broke out in Isa Town Souq.
The Cabinet discussed and approved the memorandum presented by His Excellency the Minister of Finance, President of the Ministerial Committee for Economic and Monetary Affairs, on specifying the fees payable by employment agencies, and licensing agencies that supply workers.
In addition to fees payable by foreign employers to obtain work permits to operate their businesses in the Kingdom, as well as the fees to obtain work permits for domestic workers.
The Committee recommended amending some of the current fees while keeping some others unchanged in order to avoid creating additional burdens on business owners.
