MANAMA: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister met with the Executive Committee of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) and applauded their role for serving media as regional bodies.
HRH Prince Salman expressed these views as he held his weekly Majlis at Riffa Palace.
The OANA and FANA are currently participating in their 37th Session in Manama with a focus on the impact of globalization on communications and the mass media. His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of such events in promoting knowledge exchanges as well as improving coordination among news agencies from across the world.
His Royal Highness welcomed a wide cross section of Bahraini society, including members of the royal family, senior government officials, members of the Council of Representatives and the Shura Council, members of municipal councils, prominent religious figures, academics, community leaders, journalists, diplomats accredited to the Kingdom and other members of the Bahraini community.
OANA’s and FANA’s executives expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to meet with His Royal Highness and highlighted the role of the 37th session in addressing international communications issues.
Also in attendance at the Majlis were the Chairman of Bahrain’s Volleyball Association, Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and the chairman of Al Ahli club, Fuad Kanoo. His Royal Highness extended his congratulations to the Al Ahli club for winning the Crown Prince Volleyball Cup this year, and praised the club’s teamwork and tactics.
The attendees praised His Royal Highness’ keen engagement with Bahrain’s citizens, in addition to his efforts to reinforce sustainable development and improve public services in the Kingdom, in line with the development programme initiated by His Majesty King Hamad.
