MANAMA: President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Advisor Salem bin Mohammed Al Kuwari, described the judiciary as the bulwark of the community and the guarantor of the other authorities. He was speaking at the Supreme Judicial Council’s celebration marking the end of the judicial year 2013-2014 which was held under his patronage and in the presence of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Public Prosecutor and Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council Dr. Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainin and members of the judiciary and public prosecution.
Advisor Al Kuwari underlined the importance of judicial autonomy, thanking members of the judiciary for their efforts during the judicial year 2013-2014. He also thanked the Justice Minister for all his support to boost autonomy of the judiciary.
He said that the concept of the judicial power has existed in Bahrain since 1783, stressing its importance as an executive and legislative tool and a means to settle conflicts. He also pointed out the importance of the judge and the ethics of the profession in maintaining the high status of the judiciary.
The Public Prosecutor and Vice President of the Supreme Judicial Council Dr. Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainin reviewed the judicial year’s achievements, lauding the efforts made in maintaining the rule of law and ensuring justice. He also paid tribute to President of the Constitutional Court Shaikh Khalifa bin Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa for his keenness to hold the annual celebration. He commended the key role of the judges, describing them as the main dynamo of the judicial power.
At the end of the celebration, the Justice Minister, Advisor Salem bin Mohammed Al Kuwari and the Public Prosecutor honoured Cassation Court judge Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, President of the High Sharia Sunni Court of Appeal judge Shaikh Ibrahim bin Abdullatif Al Sa’ad and judge Shaikh Saeed Mohsin Al Aribi.
