MANAMA: The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments has urged Imams and preachers to adhere to the ethics of the religious discourse, emphasised by the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, as well as the legal norms and regulations.
The Ministry stressed that Imams and preachers should distance religious platforms and protect them from any kind of political polarisation or sectarian issues, dictated by the on-going regional and global events, and most importantly avoid making any comments on the current incidents in Iraq or elsewhere in order to maintain Islamic fraternity and national unity.
The Ministry called on preachers and Imams to direct people towards goodness, love, brotherhood and tolerance so as to preserve Islamic unity, national cohesion and unified stances through promoting the values of belonging to the nation and defending its Islamic fundamentals and Arab identity, taking into consideration the specific features of each sect and respecting the religious and cultural pluralism.
The circular underlined the need to respect the constitutional fundamentals agreed upon by the people of Bahrain and the laws that protect the rights of all those living in the Kingdom, highlight compassion, love and tolerance and adopt moderation as the best approach to address all issues in order to reinforce national security and stability, ensure the safety of the citizens and residents and cement national unity.
