MANAMA: The World Bank delegation gets briefing from Ministry of Works’ pilot street lighting and green building projects, public sector’s major energy conservation initiatives.
The Minister of Works Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf held talks with World Bank’s led by Middle East and North Africa Energy Expert and Specialist Waleed Al Sarih, Climate Change Expert Sameera Al Khamleshi, Ronda Gordan, Jay Jiong, Vincent David, Alexi Linch, and Forafit Tontifet.
The delegation is currently in the Kingdom from 15-23 June for the purpose of implementing a number of energy related projects in Bahrain.
During the meeting, both parties highlighted means of cooperation between the World Bank and Bahrain to implement projects aiming at optimising the use of energy. The meeting was attended by the Ministry’s Undersecretary Waleed Al Saei, the Assistant Undersecretary for Construction Projects and Maintenance Mona Al Motawa, Media and Community Service Head Hafedh Abdulghaffar, Ministry of Finance’s Director of Customization and Contracts Lamees Al Hassar and Awaf Saleh.
The Minister welcomed the delegation, which commended the efforts extended by the Ministry of Works in the sanitary engineering, roads and construction and maintenance sectors.
The delegation also referred to a number of projects in Bahrain that require optimum use of energy, in collaboration with the Ministry of Works, including street lighting and green buildings.
MoW’s Materials Engineering Director Sameer Affouni also delivered a presentation on the Bahraini Code of Building.
