MANAMA: The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs hailed all steps and decisions banning alcoholic drinks.
In a statement issued on Monday, the council said the move was in line with the royal directives to change Bahrain into a destination for clean family tourism, in tune with the conservative nature of the Bahraini society, its Islamic identity and people’s customs and traditions.
The council expressed hope all steps will be taken to ban alcoholic drinks in Bahrain and fight moral corruption, in line with Islamic precepts and to protect Bahrain from being a gateway to strange tourism activities which are alien to the Bahraini society.
The council also expressed regret over some attempts to impede such good steps, stressing the need to follow up on the implementation of all decisions banning alcoholic drinks and ensuring commitment to them.
The council emphasised that such measures are an indispensable step to preserve Bahrain’s religious identity and Islamic values.
