Interior Minister, Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, in the presence of the Public Security Chief Major-General Tariq Hassan Al-Hassan, held talks with the representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Pakistan Cesar Guedes.
The Minister welcomed the UNODC official, and reviewed with him areas of bilateral cooperation.
He affirmed the importance of stepping up cooperation and coordination among all the concerned sides within a real partnership that ensures support for future capacity-building programmes aiming to combat such a dangerous phenomenon.
In this regard, he praised the tangible positive results achieved so far within the “Ma’an” (Together) Project of combating violence and addiction.
He commended the UN’s efforts and programmes to combat drugs and crime, and reduces their negative effects on individuals and society.
Guedes expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Interior Ministry for the efforts of the National Committee to Combat Drugs, chaired by the Minister of Interior, and all the specialised bodies to implement the national strategy for combating such a dangerous phenomenon.
