MANAMA: Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the managing and operating body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), celebrated the renewal of the Aerodrome Certification from the Ministry of Transportation’s Civil Aviation Affairs (CAA).
The Chief Executive Officer of BAC Mohammed Al Binfalah received the certificate at a meeting held with the Acting Undersecretary for Civil Aviation Affairs, Ahmed Al-Nemah at the CAA headquarters.
The Aerodrome Certificate endorses the airport’s compliance with the Bahrain Aerodrome Standards and Certification Regulations, CAR 001, and fulfils the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The certificate, which is valid for five years, confirms that the BIA aerodrome is licensed and approved for international civil air traffic operations.
“The renewal of the Aerodrome Certificate highlights the Company’s focus on operating BIA in accordance with the international aviation regulations. Renewal of the certificate was granted following the assessment of BIA’s aerodrome by the CAA and confirms the readiness and operational capability of BIA and ensures that the landing field is safe and suitable for take-off and landing of international aircrafts,” Mohamed Thamir Al Kaabi, Chief Operations Officer at Bahrain Airport Company, said.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Airport Operations managing team at the Company who have worked hard to ensure BIA’s aerodrome is maintained as per the standards set by the local and international aviation authorities – without their efforts BIA would not be operating as smoothly and efficiently as it does today,” Mohamed Al Kaabi, added.
The Aerodrome Certification is issued by the CAA in pursuance of its obligation to ensure the enforcement of the CAA Authority Law that determines international regulations and standards at all aerodromes serving international civil air traffic in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
BAC is the authority responsible for enhancing BIA and increasing the airport’s contribution to the local economy in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision. In its operational role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport’s operations, infrastructure and services. This is set to improve BIA’s capabilities and cater to the growing number of passengers as well as the changing demands of stakeholders.
