MANAMA: The Kingdom of Bahrain’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.7% in second quarter of the year from 4% in the first quarter.
The Official Government Spokesperson and State Minister for Information Affairs Sameera Rajab after the weekly Cabinet meeting told reporters that the Cabinet discussed the memorandum presented by the Minister of Labour on the report concerning those eligible for subsidy and unemployment insurance, as well as data on training, employment and vacancies during the first quarter of 2014.
“The unemployment rate fell during the second quarter of 2014 to 3.7% from 4% in the first quarter of the same year,” she said.
“Total 6085 citizens were employed in the second quarter of 2014, at the rate of 2028 jobs per month,” she said.
“Crafts jobs and the production and transportation sectors had the highest rates of employment. This emphasizes on the commitment of the Government to exert all efforts to develop the labor market and provide better job opportunities for citizens. The Cabinet emphasized the importance of the commitment of International Organizations to exercise precision in communicating these figures,” the Minister added.
