ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) on Monday resigned from the National and provincial assemblies’ seats, except PKP, as part of ongoing protest against the Government of Prime Minister Mian Mohammed Nawaz Sharif.
The decision to this effect was taken during a daylong core committee meeting of the PTI held at Bani Galla under the leadership of Chairman PTI Imran Khan.
Makhdoum Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced the PTI legislators’ resignations from the National Assembly, Punjab Assembly, Baluchistan Assembly and Sind Assembly seats with immediately.
“The fate of PKP assembly will be decided later as PTI has coalition in PKP hence we have postponed the decision,” Shah Mahmood told media in Bani Galla.
The PTI resignations will mount further pressure on the Government which late on Monday was looking forward for holding talks with the PTI and PAT leaders who are observing sit-in protests in Islamabad since August 14th.
