MANAMA: The Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA) described the so-called the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and other extremist and terrorist organisations as a looming threat to the Islamic nation and mankind.
In a statement it issued today, the Council strongly condemned bloodshed and the killing of innocent people by ISIS and other extremist and terrorist organisations, denouncing the horrendous crimes committed in breach of all Islamic values and precepts.
It said the impudence of ISIS and its brutality in shedding blood were a blatant breach of human nature and of the core values of Islam which preach compassion and tolerance.
It described such barbaric practices as a defamation of Islam and a distortion of its real image, calling on the Islamic nation to do its utmost to close in on this terrorist ideology and warn of its danger.
It urged Muslim scholars, imams and figures to raise the youth’s awareness about the genuinely pure values of Islam as the religion of moderation, compassion and tolerance in order to protect them from falling prey to extremism.
