Manama: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa emphasised the importance of the construction of the King Hamad Causeway, the second land link between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, represents a landmark in bilateral relations and will significantly boost trade and commerce between the two countries.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister met with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Bahrain, Dr. Abdulla bin Abdul-Malik Al-Shaikh and the Chief of the King Fahd Causeway Authority (KFCA), Bader Abdulla Al Otaishan at Gudaibiya Palace.
His Royal Highness praised the historical links between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and discussed ways to further develop bilateral ties.
His Royal Highness also expressed his deep appreciation of the significant levels of cooperation with Saudi Arabia as was clearly evident with recent coordination between the two countries to alleviate congestion on the King Fahd Causeway.
In this regard, he emphasised the need to maintain the pace of ongoing work in order to expedite the entry and exit of all goods between the two countries.
The Chief of KFCA then presented to His Royal Highness the 2013 King Fahd Causeway report which highlights the causeway’s developments during the year.
His Royal Highness praised KFCA’s key role in developing and improving all its facilities and services which has enabled commuters to move quickly across the causeway and on to their destination.
Dr. Abdulla expressed his gratitude for the gracious reception and opportunity to meet His Royal Highness and highlighted the deep and historical ties between the two countries and praised Bahrain’s efforts to further enhance bilateral relations, which Saudi Arabia is keen to reciprocate.
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad al Khalifa, son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, and Lt-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Interior, attended the meeting.
