Manama: Tamkeen’s Executive Management and the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Chamber for Commerce and Industry (BCCI) held a session on Monday to discuss the 2015-2017 draft strategy and the revamped Enterprise Development Support Programme, in addition to upcoming events and future plans.
Tamkeen presented the 2015-2017 draft strategy, which adopts a customer-centric and results-oriented approach as its foundation. It was also highlighted that the new strategy will focus on measuring impact of programmes on customers and economic development at large.
“The new strategy makes our programmes more flexible and streamlined, with integrated packages that address the needs of each individual customer and greater focus on providing support to business and individuals through different phases that include establishment, growth and maturity,” Tamkeen Chairman and Acting Chief Executive, said.
Tamkeen also highlighted the mechanism and objectives of the revamped Enterprise Support programme, which was re-designed to make it more flexible, transparent, measurable, and efficient, and to motivate business owners to adopt modern management concepts and practices, in addition to stimulating enterprises to develop and achieve objectives that contribute to business growth that ultimately develops of the national economy.
Through the programme, enterprises will receive tailored business support solutions in one streamlined package according to their plans and needs, while linking the type and support amount with the enterprises’ current status, future plans, and its success in achieving its outlined KPIs.
Among the major enhancements made to the programme is an online portal for application and tracking, along with many other convenient features.
To date, the Enterprise Support programme has served over 9,100 enterprises, with the support amount reaching in excess of BD 78.2 million.
Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al Moayed commended Tamkeen and BCCI on their collaboration, and hailed Tamkeen for their effort in supporting the private sector in the kingdom, particularly the support directed to entrepreneurs and small and medium sized enterprises, which comprise the main beneficiary of Tamkeen’s programmes.
“The chamber’s board is keen on mulling ways to enable the private sector to fully benefit from the programmes and plans offered by Tamkeen, and hence improve their productivity and profitability, and open the horizons for them to grow and expand,” Al Moayed, added.
It is worth mentioning that the meeting also deliberated about the draft of Tamkeen’s Strategy for the period 2015-2017, where BCCI board members praised the strategic goals set by Tamkeen, and their prospect in accelerating the growth and development of Bahrain’s economy.
Also, during the meeting a project idea was also discussed on the possibilities of cooperation in commercial activities in the coming period to stimulate the commercial sector and the retail sector in cooperation with the concerned entities, in addition to the announcement of an Entrepreneurship award that is being planned for and organised by Tamkeen.
