Manama: The Ministry of Works (MoW) as part of its technical services sector’s initiative represented by the information technology directorate, to keep abreast with the global information technology and communication trends.
Assistant Undersecretary for Technical Services Ahmed Al Khayyat revealed that the Ministry has initiated a feasibility study on the application of virtual computers technique.
The technique is one of the strategic projects that aim to provide a complete administrative security system for computers by acquiring a modern technique that depends on a virtual environment which organizes and rations the use of traditional computers, and also optimizes the use of all available resources.
“The project is based on the government’s strategy seeking to apply shared services in the field of information saving and storing. The project will also enable staff to access their data and all programmes and applications anywhere in the Ministry in a speedy and efficient manner, in addition to enhancing administrative and technical support and reducing maintenance costs, which will reflect positively on the Ministry in general and staff performance and productivity in particular,” he said.
“The IT directorate constantly seeks to improve work mechanisms at the Ministry through the application of modern systems and technologies in the field of information technology and communication. All of this contributes to the provision of outstanding and complete services to MoW’s staff. The ITD puts all of its capabilities and mechanisms at the hands of staff; based on best practices and standards.”
