Titled ‘Green and Inclusive Economy: Building a Sustainable Future,’ this year’s Arabia CSR Awards Forum and Ceremony features an all-day symposium that will host key thinkers, experts and practitioners in the sphere of sustainability who will be sharing their thoughts and opinions on the major developments in the area. The forum aims to promote discussion and debate from CSR experts and professionals representing acclaimed regional and international organisations, providing them with a platform to deliberate on the most recent sustainability trends in the Arab world and globally.
“This year’s Arabia CSR Awards Forum and Ceremony will host the greatest CSR minds who will partake in panel discussions to deliberate on the most pressing CSR and sustainability issues and developments affecting our region. The Awards Forum will highlight case studies from CSR leaders in the Arab world and beyond, with the winners of the current cycle being announced during the evening ceremony,” Habiba Al Marashi, President and CEO, ACSRN, said.
The Arabia CSR Awards Forum and Ceremony is the first CSR awards programme to reach out to private companies, public departments and civil society organisations across the GCC, North Africa and Levant, making the annual event the most credible and prestigious CSR accolades scheme in the Arab world. The forthcoming seventh edition’s forum lends the programme added significance, through its hosting of such luminaries as Dr. Mohamed bin Ibrahim At-Twajiri, from The League of Arab States and Bengt Johansson, CSR Ambassador for the Government of Sweden, as well as a number of other renowned sustainability thinkers who will be identifying challenges and sharing best CSR practices.
Founded in 2004, ACSRN is a regional think tank dedicated to driving sustainable development and enabling organisations across the MENA region to deliver premium CSR programmes that achieve global acclaim. Over the past six years, the Arabia CSR Awards has received applications from over 735 organisations from 26sectors across 13 Arab countries.
The ACSRN awards programme is the only scheme in the Region to be supported by the United Nations Global Compact, making it a premium platform for CSR leaders, high-ranking government officials as well as the most prominent local and international CSR players. The awards are also the first to be granted the auspices of Dr. Mohammed Bin Ibrahim At-Twajiri Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs, The League of Arab States. Adding to the programme’s influence is the fact that ACSRN is externally assured by the DNV-GL, the third largest CSR accreditation body in the world.
“ACSRN’s highly acclaimed Arabia CSR Awards Forum and Ceremony is a highly successful adjunct to our well-established training and development programmes that help Middle East organisations build their capacities for successful CSR implementation. As the first certified Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) training body in the Arab world, we have trained over 183 people on sustainability reporting in the MENA region,” Al Marashi, said.
“As exemplified by the ACSRN slogan ‘Building Partnerships for a Sustainable Future,’ we work at the corporate and civil society level to facilitate the exchange of ideas and forge lasting relationships among multiple stakeholders. This year’s Arabia CSR Awards Forum and Ceremony will focus on these areas and honour those who have strived to improve our society,” she added.
The Arabia CSR Awards Forum and Ceremony 2014 take place on October 28th at Grosvenor House, Dubai. Renowned media partners for the event include MBC and the New York Times, amongst others.
