Manama: Batelco, Bahrain’s leading communications provider and Ericsson, a world leading telecoms technology provider, have extended their long-standing partnership by signing a new transformation agreement.
The major project will see the upgrade of Batelco’s 4G Network to provide faster mobile Broadband connections for its subscribers and superior voice quality, plus a set of new services and offers. Additionally, the Network will be expanded to cover new areas across the country.
The two partners have announced the new network enhancement programme, which is designed to meet the growing customer demand for increasingly powerful mobile services. The major transformation work is part of Batelco’s ongoing strategy to enhance its networks and keep them on par with the highest international standards.
Batelco Group and acting Bahrain CEO Alan Whelan and head of Ericsson GCC Victoria Strand signed the agreement in Dubai.
Whelan said that Batelco is very pleased to be taking this major step with Ericsson which is a long established trusted partner of Batelco’s.
“Batelco was the first telecom provider to launch 4G LTE networks in Bahrain early in 2013 with the delivery of up to 100 Mbps download speed, which was later upgraded to 150Mbps. We are continuing with our commitment to provide our subscribers with state of the art technologies and the latest innovative services. Accordingly, the 4G network enhancement, is a part of a series of rollouts being implemented as a result of our ongoing investment in the Kingdom’s infrastructure,” Whelan, added.
“We are happy to extend our long-standing partnership with Batelco, and to provide them with Ericsson’s latest innovative solutions to empower their network. This major transformation will allow Batelco to offer their customers a greater experience and meet their ever-increasing demands,” Strand said.
The enhancement project is already underway, and customers will begin to experience the great benefits very soon.
