Manama: The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC) completed a study regarding water security in Bahrain from an economic perspective, in addition to four investment opportunities in the area of water desalination with a specific focus on filters, according to GOIC Secretary General.
GOIC Chief took part in the Invest in Bahrain Forum 2014 for the third consecutive year.
The forum was under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Prime Minister of Bahrain, and inducted by his Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre in the presence of Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Federation of GCC Chambers (GCC).
GOIC Secretary General Abdulaziz Bin Hamad Al-Ageel gave a speech in which he thanked the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Kingdom of Bahrain for having invited GOIC to attend this forum.
“The Organization attaches great importance to the participation at this forum and believes this event is a priority item on its annual action plan in light of its effect in terms of boosting industrial development in Bahrain and all over the Gulf,” he said.
Al-Ageel tackled the studies that GOIC had prepared specifically for Bahrain throughout the three previous years.
“The 2012 Bahrain action plan included a study on the plastic and fibreglass industries with emphasis on analysing the current status and identifying investment opportunities. Furthermore, GOIC prepared four investment opportunities in different sectors, and all of them were presented during the 2013 forum. And in 2014.”
“Upon the request of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, GOIC is currently preparing a study in the field of knowledge-based industries in the Kingdom of Bahrain and another MIS study for Bahrain’s sub-contracting and partnership exchange centre.”
“The Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting endeavoured to accomplish several joint projects in GCC countries such as an industrial guidebook about industrial energy conservation and efficiency in GCC countries. The Organization also prepared an annual report diagnosing the current situation and future trends of knowledge-based industries in 2012, in addition to the technical cooperation program with the UNIDO: GCC ministers of industry had tasked GOIC with overseeing the preparation of a comprehensive regional program in cooperation with the UNIDO. The first part of this program was implemented in 2012 and resulted in training national GCC cadres through workshops tackling competitiveness, environmental and industrial issues and the Montreal Protocol,” he added.
GOIC experts delivered a presentation about plastic and fibreglass products and suggested four investment opportunities: the production of ferric chloride, the production of chlorine dioxide (powder), the manufacture of sodium hypochlorite and the manufacture of fibre microfiltration membranes.
The economic forum “Invest in Bahrain 2014” is the 9th investment forum organised by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of Bahrain starting 2003. It is a key promotion and marketing tool used by the Ministry to attract investments to the Kingdom of Bahrain and reiterate its capabilities in terms of competitiveness and productivity. The forum presents investment opportunities in different sectors and details the facilities provided by the Government of Bahrain to encourage investments in general.
