Manama: The social media savvy ISIS in the Middle East has lured as many as 100 Bahraini nationals to join the ISIS ranks, Minister told the Bahrain media on Tuesday.
The Minister for Information Affairs and the Government’s Official Spokesperson Sameera Ibrahim bin Rajab during a media briefing said that it was unfortunate that Bahraini nationals were among those who have been lured by these extremists groups.
Bahrain is among the five Arab nations which are taking part in the US-led coalition which has been targeting the ISIS hideouts in Syria and Iraq since last Monday.
“The top priority for the authorities is to put a lid on fanning sectarianism in the country and also try to bring the Bahraini nationals back home,” the Minister said while responding to a question, adding that every effort would be made to stop such trends in future.
“Bahrain witnessed mayhem a in the past as terrorist attacks had been carried out by Hezbollah-trained on soil of the Kingdom. So such trend is not a totally new but posing a very serious threat to the sovereignty of the countries in the Middle East,” she added.
