Manama: The Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan provided an update on the details of the arson attack on the Jid Hafs municipality building that occurred on October 16. The Chief said four suspects had been arrested for their involvement in the crime.
The Chief told Bahrain TV that the police operations room received a call from the building’s security guard who reported that a number of individuals had climbed the fence. The guard tried to stop them but they threatened and attacked him.
The thugs then forcibly entered the building through the main door, doused areas of the building with gasoline and set the fire. The guard suffered breathing problems as a result of the incident.
The Chief stated that Civil Defence arrived at the scene and put out the fire and that a Salmaniya Medical Complex ambulance transferred the guard to hospital. Investigators immediately began an investigation and the Public Prosecution was notified.
The Chief said that the crime scene was examined and that the investigation led to the identification and arrest of four suspects who confessed to the crime and were referred to the Public Prosecution. The search continues for the arrest of the remaining suspects.
