Manama: American Chamber Bahrain announced the appointment of two new board members, David Caston, who serves as Tamimi Group Commercial Division Business Development Manager, and Zahraa Taher, Managing Director of FinMark Communications.
“AmCham continues to grow and broaden its outreach and services to the business community in Bahrain. In doing so, we are building a Board with diverse skills to lead the organization to ever greater endeavors. These appointments add to our diversity and strength by bringing another US citizen and a Bahraini woman to the Board,” Qays Zu’bi, President of AmCham, said.
David Caston, who has lived in the region since 2000, has served on the American Business Association-Eastern Provence Board in Saudi Arabia, where he led their successful annual golf tournament. He has also presented numerous “Doing Business in the Middle East” seminars to business leaders in the US.
Zahraa Taher is Bahrain entrepreneur and communications expert with nearly two decades of regional public relations and event management experience. Taher is also a Board Member of the Bahrain Professional Women and a Board member of the Bahrain India Society. FinMark Communications, of which she is a Co-founder, is also a strategic partner of AmCham, helping increase its visibility and grow its membership and capacity.
“I look forward to serving AmCham and bringing my experience of fund raising and speaking on the benefits of doing business in Bahrain to US business audiences, as well as continuing AmCham’s advocacy work on issues that impact business in Bahrain on the DC Door Knock trip this spring,” Caston said.
“Continuing to build AmCham’s profile and awareness of its advocacy on behalf of Bahraini and US companies is a major goal and I look forward to putting my knowledge of the communications market and networks to use in order to help AmCham to enhance its outreach efforts to both current and potential members,” Taher added.
With these appointments, the AmCham Board is fully staffed as per its constitution: ten elected board members, two appointed and three honorary members to include representatives from the US Embassy Commercial Section, Bahrain Economic Development Board, and the American Business Association-Eastern Provence. A full board election will be held at the next AGM in 2015.
