MANAMA: Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan chaired the 4th follow up meeting of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Thailand in presence of Vice Diplomatic Mission of Thai Embassy in the Kingdom of Bahrain Hathaichanok Riddhagni Frumau and BCCI Chairman Khalid Al Moayyed and president of Bahrain Business and Professional Womens Club Shaikha Hind Al Khalifa and president of Bahrain businesswomen Society Ahlam Janahi and a number of BCCI members, businessmen, investors and representatives of public and private sectors.
The Minister pointed that the ongoing visits that the leadership is keen to do is in order to raise the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the economic and investment sector, in addition to the efforts and initiatives undertaken by the Bahraini private sector and their counterpart Thailand to achieve this goal. In this context, the minister expressed leadership and government tribute on all effort that could contribute to enhance mutual relations and achieve the desired result of the historic visit by His Majesty King Hamad to friendly countries, which emerge many understandings in many areas of cooperation and joint action between the Kingdom of Bahrain and those countries. He pointed in this regard the steady increase in trade exchange between the two countries in the last two years especially in agriculture in addition to medical series and aquaculture.
Hathaichanok Riddhagni Frumau affirmed Embassy readiness to provide all kinds of support and facilities required to translate the understandings and agreements between the two countries, especially food security, medical services and training in the tourism sector.
The meeting discussed a number of topics related to investment cooperation between the two countries include establish Thai Commercial Center in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
The CEO of Al Salam Bank Yousif Taqi noted that the Bank supports all government directions aimed at developing economic cooperation with the Thai side, and the Bank is ready to provide some of the logistics services represent in allocating land subsidiary to the Bank, located near the Bahrain International Airport to build huge storages to store required materials. He also confirmed the existence of understanding with CP Company, which is considered one of the leading Thai companies, specialized in food and agriculture sector.
The other areas discussed include the possibility of further cooperation in food security field, especially increasing the imports of Jasmine Thai rice to Bahrain; discussed the latest developments on setting up the joint Thai-Bahraini Company in Thailand; the possibility of utilizing Trafco Co. warehouses to distribute Thai products to the region; the possibility of cooperation in medical services field and granting Bahraini students scholarship to Thailand to study Hospitality and Tourism.
