MANAMA: The Council of Ministers on Sunday gave a nod for new laws aimed at tightening and stiffening the penalties against the public servants found guilty of financial irregularities.
“The Cabinet discussed the memorandum presented by HE the Deputy Prime Minister, and the President of the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs, on amending some provisions of the Penal Code No. (15) for the year 1976,” Sameera bin Rajab State Minister for Information Affairs and the Government’s Official Spokesperson told the post Cabinet briefing on Sunday.
“The amendments are related to tightening the penalties on civil servants in relation to squandering public money and profiting from it. The Cabinet approved the draft law and decided to fulfill the remaining legal procedures in this matter,” she added.
