Manama: The Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) and contractor employees have recently achieved a record safety figure in completing five million hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI).
This is the third milestone achieved this year and is equivalent of approximately 179 safe working days. The remarkable accomplishment reflects the ongoing efforts and dedication of Bapco and Contractor employees to working safely as part of the daily operations of the company.
“This laudable accomplishment is a reflection of Bapco and Contractor employees’ keen efforts exerted in practising safe working habits regularly. The 5-million mark would not have been possible to achieve without their usual committed efforts and dedication to achieving such outstanding milestones, which are indeed praiseworthy,” Commenting on this occasion, Bapco’s Deputy Chief Executive Refining and Marketing and Chairman of the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Committee Ebrahim Abdullah Talib, said.
“In Bapco, we are committed to firmly establishing a zero-incident and zero-injury work environment. Our next milestone is eight million employee-hours which is due in March 2015, and which can be achieved by completing 111 days without an LTI. We have previously worked safely for longer periods without an LTI and I am assured that this milestone can be realised by continuing to keenly follow Bapco’s existing basic safety tools such as BOOST, OSOOL Bapco and 4-Keys to Safety, which are an integral part of the working culture in our company”, he added.
Talib further expressed pride in Bapco’s renowned role as a pioneering supporter of environment, health and safety endeavours not only on a company level but also throughout the entire Kingdom, in line with the directives of the Wise Leadership of Bahrain.”
