Manama: With thousands of users desperately trying to log into the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) portal to get an up-to-date information about elections 2014, the BNA server has been continuously denying access at least for the past one day.
Bahrain elections 2014 have been covered by 400 journalists, with 300 foreign media and 100 local journalists, in addition to thousands of users may have been denied access simply the portal has been overwhelmed with unprecedented traffic and apparently choked since Friday night.
Bahrain News Agency (BNA) is seen as main resource for correct and up-to-date official information on elections, however, continuously choked BNA server and a message of apology saying ‘dear visitor we sorry for not being available’ is not helping the news media anyway.
The poor quality of Internet at the Elections Media Centre at Isa Culture Centre became yet another misery for media corps covering the elections.
When asked the IT official at Media Centre he simply said that it was not the technology or computers but the ‘poor internet quality’ and we can’t help it.
As the polling drawing to closure at 8pm local time, there will be even greater attempts by the media reps to get more info from BNA to feed the same for their respective organizations worldwide.
