MANAMA: Heavy turnout in parliamentary elections on Saturday shows citizens faith in the ongoing reforms and democracy in the Kingdom of Bahrain, according to the State Minister for Information Affairs.
“The long queues at the polling stations have been very encouraging and showed that citizens believe in thriving democracy and reforms,” Sameera bin Rajab State Minister for Information Affairs and the Government’s Official Spokesperson told the post Cabinet briefing on Sunday.
“This also shows, she added, that people of Bahrain firmly believe in democratic march aimed at bringing reforms, progress and prosperity in the society.
“Bahrain’s democratic march is in line with the international political norms and the established and developed democracies worldwide,” she said.
HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister chaired the regular Cabinet session of on November 23, 2014 wherein the Cabinet congratulated HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister on his safe return to the Kingdom.
“HRH also expressed his delight to be back to resume his work in serving the country, the King and the people of Bahrain. HRH thanked HRH the Crown Prince, First Deputy Prime Minister, for taking the responsibility of the Cabinet during his absence,” she added.
“The Cabinet congratulated His Majesty the King on the success, integrity and transparency of the election process, emphasizing the great awareness of the Bahraini people by participating in the political scene and strengthening the democratic march.”
“The Cabinet also extended its thanks to the Bahraini people for their efforts in making the election process successful and for fulfilling their public duty by participating widely in the elections,” she said.
“The Cabinet thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the effort exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabic in uniting Arab and Gulf countries, wishing the Kingdom more success in the future.”
“The Cabinet also thanked His Excellency the Minister of industry and Commerce on the success of Jewellery Arabic 2014. Many people participated in this exhibition and it brought the Kingdom great economic revenue.
“The Cabinet congratulated the Ministry of Interior’s Ombudsman Office and the National Foundation for Human Rights for equally winning the Prize for the Promotion of Human Rights for the year 2014 granted by the European Union.
“HRH urged the Cabinet to pay more attention to housing units to fulfill the needs of citizens,” the Minister added.
“The Cabinet discussed and approved the memorandum presented by HE the Deputy Prime Minister, and the President of the Ministerial Committee for Legal Affairs, on amending some provisions of Decree Law No. (10) for the year 1990 related to the control of Pearls and Precious Stones.
“The amendment proposes to add a penalty article applied to companies in this field,” she added.
