Manama: The State Minister for Information Affairs Sameera Rajab on Sunday said that the Kingdom of Bahrain has put in place stringent laws to check the quality of infrastructure especially related to public facilities.
The Minister, who is also Official spokesperson of the Government of Bahrain, was responding to a question during the post Cabinet meeting briefing and said that the incident of Enma’a Mall was not related to quality of the Mall structure.
“We are waiting for the findings of an independent inquiry ordered by HRH Prince Salman on the incident, however, the accident seems to be a negligence as some plaster structures fell down while that was being fixed,” the Minister added.
Earlier, the owners and management of Enmaa Mall Riffa confirmed that the mall would remain shut for one week following the incident of roof collapse on Saturday evening at around 5.30pm.
The Director of Al-Enmaa House for Real Estate (B.S.C.) Company, Saleem Elias, said that emanating from the company’s keenness on public safety, repair works will take at least one week after which the mall will be reopened in coordination with the relevant authorities to ensure its safety and public safety.
