MANAMA: His Excellency the Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, who offered his sincere condolences to the family of the man who died at the Reformation and Rehabilitation Center, termed the incident as an isolated case.
Interior Minister said that the death of the man, thought to have been at the hands of three Ministry personnel, was irresponsible, unjustified and unacceptable. He stated that the act goes completely against the policies of the Interior Ministry which respects and protects human rights.
He said that the case was an individual, isolated act that does not reflect the attitudes of the Public Security personnel who have consistently shown restraint and professionalism under the most trying of circumstances.
He said that the Legal Affairs Department at the Interior Ministry had been assigned to study the policies and practices of the Reformation and Rehabilitation Center and to suggest recommendations to ensure that such acts cannot be repeated.
HE Interior Minister said that legal procedures were being taken and that the case was being investigated by the Public Prosecution after it was notified by members of the Interior Ministry.
