Manama: The Council of Ministers in its meeting on Sunday urged all citizens to participate in the upcoming parliamentary and municipal elections 2014 and assured that Government would not allow anyone to take away this inherent right of citizens.
The State Minister of Information Affairs Sameera Rajab told the post Cabinet meeting briefing that the Government would take all necessary steps to ensure smooth, fair, free and impartial elections in the Kingdom.
“The elections are one of the basic ingredients of the reforms announced by His Majesty the King Hamad and the reforms will continue as part of national goal,” the Minister added.
“The Cabinet reiterated that taking part in the upcoming legislative and municipal elections is a national obligation that expresses responsibility and care towards national interest,” she said.
“The Cabinet also urged citizens to practice their national and constitutional right by voting in the elections. Disrupting and the call for boycotting the elections and attacking candidates are all acts criminalized by law and goes against the national duty,” she added.
